How it works
Silicon PV cells convert sunlight into electricity by an energy conversion process producing direct current (DC) electricity. An inverter converts the DC electricity to Grid mains AC electricity and regulates the generated power to make it suitable for household use and sending of excess to the grid. Special export electricity meters supplied by your electricity provider allow excess generation to be sold. Increases in world demand and manufacturing capacity have resulted in cost reductions making this technology now feasible for local residential use.
